Music Box Seemingly Moves on Its Own in Footage From Haunted Liverpool Pub

A team of paranormal researchers were investigating an allegedly haunted pub in Liverpool, England, when something unexplained and pretty creepy happened. While they were investigating Peter Kavanagh’s pub in Toxteth, the music box that they left on the table seemed to move on its own. In fact, it made slight movements several times over a period of about 20 seconds.

Investigators Chris Cummings and Adam Billing claimed that they had nothing to do with the movement of the old music box (it’s thought to be between 60 and 70 years old that plays old music) as there wasn’t anyone in the room during that time and that the only explanation was that it had to have been a poltergeist. He added that the table was flat and bolted to the ground so it wouldn’t have been possible to move it.

A child’s ghost is said to haunt the pub.

In an interview with ECHO, Chris said, “We literally had no idea anything had happened until after. If you look carefully, you can see a light, which is off the illuminator off the camera. You can see it reflecting back off the lid of the music box and that’s the key to seeing how much it actually does turn to the side.” “Crucially, it also slides across by about an inch or two as well, so it’s a really intriguing double movement.” He added that while it’s a paranormal investigator’s dream to capture a full ghost on camera, catching poltergeist activity moving an object is almost as good.

Rita Smith, who is the landlady of the pub, told the investigators a story that involved the ghost of a little girl who hangs out in the main room, “…and when I showed her our footage, I think she was pleasantly surprised.”

A video of the music box allegedly moving on its own can be seen here as well as on the paranormal team’s Haunted Scouse YouTube channel.

A male ghost is also believed to haunt the building.

In addition to the ghostly child, there have been other reports of paranormal activity at Peter Kavanagh’s pub over the years. According to local author Tom Slemen (who wrote the book Haunted Liverpool Pubs), there’s a spirit at the pub called Marmaduke. Slemen described this spirit in further detail, “Marmaduke duly came out of the woodwork, performing some sort of ventriloquist act in which he would use drinkers and staff as unsuspecting mouthpieces for his shocking language and obscure songs.” It is believed that the ghost of Marmaduke was unleashed during a séance at the building back in the year 1844.

It seems like Peter Kavanagh’s pub is home to several different types of spirits – and not just the ones made with alcohol.
