Countless Ghosts, a Green Monkey, and a UFO All Seen in Brixham

In and around the town of Brixham, England, there have been numerous reports of unexplained activity, from tons of ghost sightings, to a green-faced monkey, and even a UFO sighting. Let’s take a quick look at some of the strange events associated with this town and surrounding areas.

A domed UFO was witnessed hovering over Brixham for approximately an hour on April 28, 1967.

During the summer of 1996, a 4-foot-tall monkey with a green face was spotted more than a dozen times running in the woods in the town of Churston very close to Brixham. It was never seen again after that summer.

There is no shortage of ghost stories associated with the area with one spirit who was very well known. Actor John Slater from the television series Z Cars is rumored to haunt the Brixham Theater which was where he conducted one of his final performances before passing away in 1975. Those who have seen his ghost have claimed that he was wearing a show costume. He may also be haunting the last house he lived in.

Back in the 1980s, an entity thought to have been a French Prisoner of War from the Napoleonic times named Francois had been witnessed sitting at the bar at the old Royal British Legion in Bakers Hill.

A 12-centimeter-tall man wearing a red cap and green clothing was observed underneath a small plant at Lupton House by author Violet Tweedale.

Unexplained sounds of someone rapping and tapping have been heard at the Old Coaching House Inn. The alleged poltergeist likes to hide people’s belongings in different areas of the building.

A ghostly soldier reportedly haunts the Berry Head Hotel. During one night in August of 2013, a wedding guest at the hotel claimed to have seen an entity wearing Napoleonic clothes.

There is said to be a very lonely ghost that resides at the Smugglers Haunt Hotel that has often been seen sitting all alone at a dinner table. Interestingly, the spirit could only be seen in the mirror.

Known as one of the most haunted locations in the southern part of England, the Churston Court Inn is said to have several ghostly huntsmen and monks. In fact, several people have reported seeing the spirit of a monk roaming around the building, but when someone enters the room, the entity leaves through another door. Additionally, candles have inexplicably been lit all by themselves.

The Black House on Milton Street is said to be one of the most haunted houses in all of Devon. When the house was empty, people reported seeing lights turn on at night, in addition to seeing the figure of Squire Hilliard walking past the windows. He allegedly took his life after he fell in love but the woman’s father stopped their relationship.

That is definitely one spooky town.
