An outbreak of the H5N1 avian flu in Israel has resulted in the deaths of at least 5,200 migratory cranes and hundreds of thousands of domestic chickens – causing some experts to warn this could be the next pandemic if it jumps to humans where it can be lethal. If anything makes one call 2021 ‘the good old days’, this could be it.

A Cheetos cheese snack that the owner thinks is shaped like Loch Ness Monster is for sale on eBay for $847,828 (£630,000). If they really want to sell it for that price, they should change the name to Puffcoin.

NASA has already made us afraid of 2022 with the announcement that Asteroid 2014 YE15, first discovered in 2014, will approach Earth at a distance of around 7,400,000 km on January 6, but deems the 22-foot-wide (7 meters) “bus-size” space rock to not be a major threat. If it’s not a major threat, why not compare it to a 22-foot-wide pillow?

A woman in Lincoln, Nebraska, born with a double uterus – a rare abnormality called uterine didelphys – got pregnant in both and gave birth prematurely to two babies, one of which survived and is now a healthy six months old. Is ‘Uterine Didelphys’ the sequel to ‘The Vagina Monologues’?

A new study published in the journal Development Cell found that a kind of “battle of the sexes” occurs in the uterus long before birth as “greedy and selfish” genes from the father fight with genes from the mother for nutrients, causing some babies to grow poorly in the womb. Can parental counseling be delivered via ultrasound?

Two infrared cameras aimed at the Popocatpetl Volcano in Mexico recently recorded images of a cloud-shaped UFO not visible to normal cameras – UFO experts could not say what it was, why it was only seen in infrared and why it didn’t dissolve as it flew over. Popocatpetl video cameras have replaced NBS and the Loch Ness Nessie-cam as “Must See TV.”

Elon Musk has managed to anger another nation as China informed the United Nations that its crewed space station had to twice maneuver to avoid potential collisions with SpaceX Starlink satellites that had been dropped to lower altitudes as part of their end-of-life destruction sequence. Why doesn’t he kill two space birds with one stone and let them blast the satellites for him?

A second time capsule was found in the base of the now-dismantled statue of Confederate General Robert E Lee in Virginia, but the 36-pound (16kg) copper box did not contain the long-rumored rare photo of a deceased President Abraham Lincoln in his casket, just what appears to be a Harper’s Weekly image of a figure grieving over Lincoln’s grave. Interest in this event shows the casket of the Civil War is still open.

Grichka Bodganoff has died at age 72 – he and his twin brother Igor were famous essayists on various subjects in science fiction, popular science, and cosmology, but are best remembered for the “Bogdanov affair” when they wrote obviously fake advanced physics papers that were nonetheless published in reputable scientific journals. Is he really dead?

Proving that even head lice have value, a new study shows that the “cement” used by nits to attach their eggs to human hair contains ancient human DNA which has been used to study mummified remains in South America dating back 1,500-2,000 years and help track the migration patterns of pre-Columbian cultures. Feeling itchy yet?
